Many writers make the common mistake of being too vague when picturing a reader. When it comes to identifying a target audience, everyone is no one. You may worry about excluding other people if you write specifically for one individual. Relax - that doesn't necessarily happen. A well-defined audience simplifies decisions about explanations and word choice. Your style may become more disincitive, in a way that attracts people beyond the target reader. For example, Andy Weir wrote The Martian for science ficiton readers who want their stories firmly grounded in scientific fact, and perhaps rocket scientists whot enjoy science fiction. I belong to neither audience, yet I enjoyed the book. Weir was so successful at pleasing his target audience that shared it widely and enthisiastically. Because Weir didn't try to cater to everyone, he wrote something that delighted his core audience. Eventually, his work traveled far beyond that sphere. It may be counterintuitive, but if you want to broaden your impact, tighten your focus on the reader.

잘 규정된 독자층은 단순화한다                설명과 단어 선택에 대한 결정을

여러분의 문체는 더 독특해질지도 모른다  사람들을 끌어당기는 방식으로 대상 독자층을 넘어서는

나는 둘 중 어느 독자층에도 속하지 않는다 하지만 나는 그 책을 즐겼다

Weir was so successful / at pleasing his target audience / that shared it widely and enthisiastically.//

Weir는 매우 성공적이었다    그의 대상 독자층을 기쁘게 하는 일에 그들은 그것을 널리 그리고 열정적으로 공유했다.

Because Weir didn't try to cater to everyone, / he wrote / something that delighted his core audience.//

Weir는 모두를 대접하려고 하지 않았기 때문에          그는 썼다     그의 핵심 독자층을 즐겁게 하는 무언가를

Eventually, / his work traveled / far beyond that sphere.//

결국 그의 작품은 전해졌다 그 분야를 훨씬 뛰어넘어

It may be counterintuitive, / but if you want to broaden your impact, / tighten your focus on the reader.//

그것은 직관에 어긋날지도 모른다   하지만 만약 여러분이 영향력을 넓히기를 원한다면 독자층에 대한 여러분의 초점을 좁혀라

Textiles and clothing have functions that go beyond just protecting the body. Dress and textiles alike are used as a means of nonverbal communication. Obvious examples would be the use of uniforms to communcate a particular social role and the modern white weddings dress Western cultures use to mark this rite of passage. Both types of clothing communicate important infomation nonverbally to the onlooker. The female wearing the white dress is about to be married and change her status and role in society. The person in the uniform has some specialized function in society, such as police officer, nurse, or soldier. Therfore, it can be said that clothing visually communicates information about group membership and functions as an identity marker.

옷감과 옷은               기능을 가지고 있다 단순히 신체를 보호하는 것 이상의

분명한 예는 ~ 일것이다          유니폼의 사용           특정한 사회적 역할을 전달하기 위한

그리고 현대적인 흰색 웨딩드레스          서양 문화권에서 사용하는   이러한 통과의례를 기념하기 위해

The person in the uniform / has some specialized function / in society, / such as police officer, nurse, or soldier.//

유니폼을 입은 사람은 어떤 전문화된 기능을 가지고 있다 사회에서 경찰, 간호사, 또는 군인처럼

Therfore, it can be said / that clothing visually communicates information / about group membership /

그러므로 말할 수 있다          옷은 정보를 시각적으로 전달한다고                                  집단 구성원의 자격에 관하여

and functions as an identity marker.

그리고 기능을 한다고 정체성의 표시로서
